Upon excited at UV light, it emits strong red fluorescent light. Compare to other organic fluorescent dyes, ruthenium based fluorophores have large stoke shift, exceptional photo-stability and longer fluorescent life time. Therefore, ruthenium tag is useful in two-photon imaging and it is also an excellent electroluminescent probe.
